Ann ROWE

The family of Ann Rowe
Father Richard Rowe-: Convicted at Pembroke Gt.Sess'n 1.4.1801,sentence14
years,arrived aboard the "glatton" 11/3/1803 or Richard Rowe convicted at
Kildare Ireland in 1801 and sentenced to 7 years arrived aboardthe"Hercules"
on the 26th June 1802. (on the 1828 census there is a Robert Rowe arriving on
the Hercules this could be Richard. A Richard Rowe died in Sydney on the20th
September 1826 and was buried from St.Phillips.This is believed to be Ann's
father as Margaret Rowe remarried three months later to a James Rainey. Ann is
listed on the 1828 census as a servant to James Rainey and also he appears as a
witness on her Marriage certificate to Joseph Perkins.

Mother Margaret Griffiths:- Convicted at Glamorgan GT.Assizes on the 5.4.1814
and sentenced to 7 years- she stated that she was a native of Monmouth
Wales, occupation servant and was 28 years old. She arrived in Australia aboard
the "Northhampton" in 1815. On Richard's death in 1826 Margaret married James
Rainey on the 25th December 1826 st St. Marys Catholic Church (witness Nicholas
& Elizabeth Verney).

Ann Rowe:- There are two baptism records held for Ann, 1st in 1818 to Richard
and Margaret Rowe Baptised at St.Phillips and 2nd on the 10.10.1829 (record
states born 1817/1818) at St.Marys Catholic Church, sponser Esther Dwyer,the
second certificate list the parents as Richard Rowe and Mary Griffiths.It is
assumed that because that she was now the step daughter of James Rainey and he
was a Catholic she was re-baptised in the Catholic Church.
Ann is shown of the 1828 census (under Row) as 10 years,born in colony,Prot.
servant- Employer James Rainey, res:Market Street, Sydney. Ann Perkins nee Rowe
died at her Grandson James Perkins House on the 9th Feb,1896 and is buried at
the Church of England cemetery Rangers Valley NSW,she was 79 yearsold. Her
death was recorded at Emmaville. Ann and Joseph only has one child, James who was
also living around that area.
James Rainey:-Convicted in 1819 and arrived onboard the "Tyne" .He later had a
brass foundry business in Market Street Sydney.
