Norah was considered to be an excellent pianist ant taught music. She worked at Scotcher’s music shop in Corporation Street, Birmingham as a salesperson & pianist. Her husband Joseph was a violinist.


Elizabeth Vera SHORT

Known as Vera. Vera was an excellent pianist and involved in amateur dramatics and light opera. Her husband John was a self-taught musician and became a timpanist with the Roy Marshall Orchestra. He also played banjo & guitar and taught music.
Up until her death, Vera lived at ‘Tall Trees’ on Coleshill Road, Water Orton, Birmingham. The house was built on the site of a pub once owned by her grandfather, James Dempster SHORT.
