My Grandmother was a Carpenter and proud of her name. Her father had migrated to South Wales from Somerset so I searched on the Internet for people researching the Carpenter family name. I found Phillip Clements. Not only did he help me with how to look for information but also provided me with a copy of the data he had already researched in the family name. Thank you Philip for your help.

An extra benefit to the work was to find out that we are related (fifth cousin once removed so he has calculated) Phil has interests in Families based in Midsomer Norton and the surrounding parishes in North Somerset. His site details are also given in the Useful Links section of the site. Please contact him if you have information that he might find useful.

Also thanks to Evon Williams & Robyn Tester in Australia for the information and pictures sent regarding Kerry’s Galloway links who moved to Australia from South Wales with Samuel Harris. Evon is interested in links to the Galloway and Harris families.

Special thanks to Linda in canada for putting me in touch with Evon and helping me understand how to find out more about my family. She has a keen interest in the Barclay family and so anyone with details please e-mail her

A thanks to Maureen Alam (my wife’s cousin) for the work she has done in tracing my wife’s family’s links (BRADLEY). This has all been done manually. She currently is not on the net and so can only be contacted through Jan Frater

A lot of work has been done in Australia on Frater and the links back to Durham. Margaret Graham has a site worth looking at. Thanks Meg.
