Arandora Star

During the Second World War David Charles Frater was assigned to guard the transportation of “aliens” over to Canada. The Arandora Star was torpedoed west of Ireland. DCF was rescued and came ashore in Scoltland 1943.
The following link leads to a first hand account of The Sinking of the Arandora Star. The story is from the perspective of an internee.
I only heard my father (David Charles Frater) speak of the sinking once. It was an experience that he wished he never had, and left him with a dislike of water for the rest of his life.
